About Your Teachers

Mrs. Ridenour

My Family

I am fortunate to live here in Clayton with my husband, Matt, and my kids Paige and Gavin.  We love living so close to Mt. Diablo where we can go for runs, hikes, and just get outdoors!

My Education

I got my Bachelor of Science degree at UC San Diego in Psychology with a minor in Education.  I stayed at UCSD to do my teaching credential and get my masters.

My Career

Before starting at Diablo View, I taught elementary school all over the East Bay.  I've taught in Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Orinda in grades 3-5.

This is my fifth year at DVMS and I couldn't be happier.  Math and Science have always been my favorite subjects and I feel so fortunate that I get to teach them both so close to home.   I am on the NGSS Writing Committee within the district to roll out the new science standards effectively and efficiently. I am also the math department chair for DVMS.

Mrs. Fairclough

My Family

I grew up right here in Clayton and attended Diablo View Middle School when it was first opened. My mom still lives here and I enjoy the sense of connection I have with our community! I currently live in Walnut Creek with my husband, Steve, and my kids, Lorelei, Jason, and Sawyer. We are expecting a baby girl this September.  We enjoy skiing, camping, and other family adventures.

My Education

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Biology and Management from  UC Davis. After working for several years, I returned to the classroom to earn Single Subject (Life Science) and Multiple Subject Teaching Credentials from CSU East Bay. I went on to earn a Master of Science in Curriculum Development at CSU East Bay.

My Career

Before deciding to return to school to become a teacher, I worked first as a bench chemist for the Tahoe Research Group and later as a Limnologist for an environmental consulting firm. During this time I realized that some of my favorite experiences were sharing my love of science with students through volunteer opportunities.

I have been fortunate to work at Diablo View for the past 14 years teaching math and science. I really enjoy working with our curious 6th graders as well as our phenomenal teachers and staff.
